On the border of the West Coast, there are nearly uncountable unique small waters with curious trout fishing for the angler willing to request access from land owners. Take your light weight rod, the dry fly box and wet wade. Sight fishing is available when clear conditions prevail. Almost all the systems run through private land so it is crucial for future angler/farmer relationships to seek permission before fishing. There is the odd sea run fish, but it is mostly populated by a fragile wild self sustaining trout population including the odd larger brown. Catch and release is crucial here to prioritise a sustainable fishery.
